Knowing what is right for your spirit

As a child it was my parents job to feed me.  I ate what was prepared and learned to determine what I liked and what I didn’t like.  When I became an adult I generally ate what I’d eaten as a child, because it was familiar to me.  Because I’d had prior experience of it, and had already determined what I liked.

Later as I began to be more exposed to different types of foods that I’d not been exposed to as a child, I decided that in order to know if I liked them I’d have to take a moment to try them.  Some I liked, some I didn’t.  But my determination was based on knowledge and experience, of a variety of choices, as opposed to determining that I did not like something that I had never experienced.

When I was a kid, my spirit was feed by the hands of my parents.   Over and over, I was fed what they had been fed over and over, by the generations before them.   Being fed the same thing over and over, can sometimes distort your view of it’s true depths and cause you to form a resistance or refusal to want any parts of it.  It is at that time, it is important to purge your spirit and revisit what you were fed on your own terms…..tasting it as if you are tasting it for the first time.

In our attempt at choosing what is right for our spirit.  We have to nourish our soul by allowing access to true understanding in determining what is right for us, and then embracing what has caused us to grow.  You sometimes have to venture on unfamiliar grounds, and re-examine the things you were once familiar with in order to know what is right for your spirit.
